Brewers Clinch Playoff Spot for 2nd Consecutive Season and Eliminate Cubs and Mets in the Process
By Scott Rogust

The Milwaukee Brewers were handed their last rites after defending NL MVP Christian Yelich was lost for the season with a fractured kneecap.
But the team persevered, as they defeated the Cincinnati Reds 9-2 on Wednesday night to officially clinch a playoff berth. As a result, the Chicago Cubs and New York Mets have been eliminated from contention.

The Brewers were hellbent on clinching on Wednesday, evidenced by Ryan Braun's first-inning grand slam. After that, the floodgates opened and nobody could stand in their way.
Jordan Lyles played a pivotal role in the win, striking out six batters while surrendering just two runs on three hits in five innings of work.
With their win tonight the @Brewers clinch a playoff berth.

The Brewers are making the playoffs in back-to-back seasons for just the second time in franchise history.

While the Brewers can celebrate, there's still some work to do. For the remaining four games, they'll look to usurp the St. Louis Cardinals for the NL Central crown. Sitting just 1.5 games back, anything is possible.
Either way, the Milwaukee Brewers are postseason bound for the second consecutive season.
