Brett Favre Offers Explanation of Sam Darnold's 'Seeing Ghosts' Comment

New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold looked shellshocked and afraid against the New England Patriots, as he only completed 11 of his 32 passes, failed to score a point and turned the ball over five times, a product of him "seeing ghosts" on the field.

While Twitter has been pounding Darnold's confidence into the dirt after his awful performance, Sam did have a defender in Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre, who said he experienced the same thing during the early years of his legendary career under Mike Holmgren with the Green Bay Packers.

Favre, who turned the ball over more than anyone as a developing quarterback, can sympathize with the skittish Darnold.

This may be a common problem for young quarterbacks, but there's a difference between misreading a couple plays and looking like you never saw a blitz in your life.

Darnold was throwing off of his back foot, chucking balls into empty space, and never got into any sort of rhythm.

Things can only go up from here for Darnold and the Jets. Hopefully, for their sake, Darnold learns from this and doesn't shrink to Mark Sanchez.
