From top prospect to World Series starter to essentially out of the game, it's remarkably impressive what Travis d'Arnaud was able to do in 2019, his final chance to reestablish his own value before free agency.

The 30-year-old catcher, having lost most of his value due to repeated injuries and disappointment, went from the Mets to the Dodgers (!) briefly in 2019 before finding his way to Tampa Bay, where something kind of amazing happened: he broke out again.

He finished 2019 with 16 homers and a .251 average. He hit three home runs at Yankee Stadium. And now, he's secured the bag with Atlanta, earning two years of security for his efforts.

Far from ready to commit to Tyler Flowers as their full-time backstop, Atlanta's latest insurance policy isn't exactly the most durable option. But for a relative bargain, the Braves now have a slugging option at catcher who can potentially steal Flowers' thunder if his breakout trajectory continues.

And yes, the Braves continue to work stealthily this offseason, much like the White Sox. They've moved on the 'pen and now they've filled their second-biggest weakness, passing on Yasmani Grandal and picking up the scraps of the catching market.

Not a bad November.
