Braves Legend Greg Maddux Makes Awesome Donation to COVID-19 Relief Fund on His Birthday

Greg Maddux joined those who are celebrating birthdays in quarantine when he turned 54 years old Tuesday. He spent his day watching some of his greatest performances, which were airing on MLB Network, and by making fun of John Smoltz for losing his hair over the years.
But more importantly, Maddux shared his COVID-19 relief fund and was prepared to match donations up to $54,000. As of Wednesday night he had raised $20,000 (when factoring in that he's matching donations from the public).
More than 200 people have donated to raise nearly $10,000! Thank you for your generosity and for celebrating my birthday with me. I will continue to match all funds that come in, so its not too late to donate! https://t.co/tVTPzs2C2x

The money is specifically going to Feeding America, Candlelighters, and Rady Children's Hospital in San Diego. Candlelighters is an organization helping out families of children with cancer. The money he raises and matches will be distributed evenly to all three.
This is an amazing gesture by Maddux and it restores some faith in humanity to see the money increasing thanks to donations by so many. Maddux made sure to share his fundraiser in between tweets poking fun at Smoltz.

Maddux's generosity is just the latest example of current and former athletes doing what they can to help those in need right now. This is some much-needed positive news during such tough times.
