Braves' Julio Teheran Has Been Quietly Spectacular Over the Past Month

Julio Teheran has been solid all season for the Braves, but continuously gets overlooked due to the Braves' superb offense and young stars in their lineup. Atlanta sits atop the N.L. East with a 38-29 record, and a big part of that has been Teheran's extraordinary pitching.

With a 4-4 record and a 3.03 ERA in 14 starts this season, Teheran has been stellar, but has lacked results due to run support. But after struggling through his first five starts, which saw him repeatedly allow five or more runs, the righty has figured it out in tremendous fashion.

Over his last seven starts, Teheran is 2-0 with a 0.70 ERA, throwing 38.2 innings and allowing just three earned runs over that stretch. The Braves pitcher has also struck out 30 batters and has a WHIP of just 0.96, an incredibly hard thing to accomplish in the modern MLB.

Yet it seems as if Teheran has gotten little recognition for his incredible stretch, especially since his numbers rival any pitcher in the game over the past month. If Teheran continues to pitch like this, he could be the Braves' No. 1 in the postseason with the inexperienced Mike Soroka following behind. Suddenly, adding Dallas Keuchel look extremely dangerous, even if Mike Foltynewicz doesn't properly figure things out.
