Atlanta Braves' executive vice president and general manager Alex Anthopoulos felt the wrath of MLB Player's Association Executive Director Tony Clark for comments he made about free agency.

Hours after Clark's insistence of a full-on investigation, Anthopoulos released a statement of his own on Wednesday night, saying that he misspoke and apologized for any confusion he might have caused.

If you're wondering what comments irked the MLBPA, here is what Anthopoulos told the media during a conference call earlier this week.

“Every day you get more information,’’ Anthopoulos said, via Clark's statement. “And we’ve had time to connect with 27 of the clubs – obviously the Astros and (Nationals) being in the World Series, they were tied up – but we had a chance to get a sense of what the other clubs are going to look to do in free agency, who might be available in trades.”

Anthopoulos says that he had no intention of discussing free agency plans with other teams. Rather, he was talking to his fellow team executives about potential offseason trades.

Clark accused Anthopoulos of "club coordination," which is a violation of the league's collective bargaining agreement. The CBA states, "players shall not act in concert with other Players and Clubs shall not act in concert with other Clubs." In other words, Clark is accusing of Anthopoulos of colluding with other teams to discuss their plans in free agency.

While Alex Anthopoulos is stressing that his words were misconstrued, it likely won't stop the MLBPA's investigation. We will keep you updated once more details involving the investigation are revealed.
