The announcement for who will host the 2021 MLB All-Star Game is expected to come next week, but the news has leaked a bit early.

The expectation is that the Atlanta Braves will host the festivities at SunTrust Park.

“We continue to feel really good about it, and we expect there will be an announcement at some point in time soon,” Braves president and CEO Derek Schiller said to the Atlanta Journal Constitution on Thursday.

The Braves began playing at SunTrust Park in 2017, and if they end up hosting the Midsummer Classic in 2021, it will be the third time the franchise has done so. They hosted at each of their last two parks, including Atlanta-Fulton County Stadium in 1972 and at Turner Field in 2000.

There's always a lot of competition to host the All-Star Game, but MLB commissioner Rob Manfred has been praising Atlanta's new digs since it opened.

“I think SunTrust Park has literally revolutionized the process of stadium development,” Manfred said. “They really did get it right here.”

The Braves are planning on having a celebration before Wednesday's game against the Nationals, which'll include franchise legends like Hank Aaron, Chipper Jones and John Smoltz. Coincidence?

Appears to be perfect timing on their part.
