Braves fans were on red alert after it was revealed Freddie Freeman had been dealing with an elbow injury early on in Spring Training. Well, fans who were holding their breath in anticipation of an update can finally breathe a sigh of relief. GM Alex Anthopolous claims that Freeman is on track to start playing again in short order.

Anthopolous said that Freeman wants to play as soon as possible, but the team is being overly cautions given the fact that it is still February and Freeman's increased importance on this team. The earliest fans will see the star first baseman figures to be next week, in early March.

Freeman had the best season of his career at the dish in 2019 and set new career bests in home runs with 38 and RBI with 121. Freeman, who claimed that he started taking painkillers and "as much extra strength Tylenol as possible" to deal with an injury near the end of last season, is the heartbeat and veteran leader of this young team. Any chance the Braves have of winning the pennant starts and ends with him, so his health is of the utmost importance.

This is certainly a step in the right direction, and before long the 30 year old should be ready to make his return to the diamond.
