The Los Angeles Angels tried to get some good, old fashioned revenge against Houston Astros outfielder Jake Marisnick, who knocked catcher Jonathan Lucroy out of action for a few weeks by slamming into him during a home plate collision.

While Noe Ramirez and manager Brad Ausmus managed to get even--at least, in their mind--by drilling Marisnick, they didn't escape the wrath of Joe Torre. Ramirez was suspended three games, while Ausmus was suspended one game.

The childish, petty, unwritten rules of baseball won again, as Marisnick almost had his season ended despite him doing everything in his power to de-escalate the situation. Marisnick himself was even remorseful in the immediate aftermath of the incident.

No one wants to see one of their own get seriously hurt, especially when it comes at the hands of a division rival on a play that toes the line between legal and illegal. However, plunking Marisnick in an attempt to injure him doesn't help anyone, as it leaves Houston without an outfielder and the Angels looking petty, cheap and dirty.
