The most coveted free agent pitcher remaining on the open market now has a new home.

According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, the Toronto Blue Jays and former Los Angeles Dodgers hurler Hyun-Jin Ryu have reached an agreement on a four-year deal on Sunday night.

Ryu, the reigning ERA champ, is slated to earn $80 million across his four seasons north of the border, in a deal that will run through the 2023 season. Ryu's contract also includes a full-no trade clause.

With this deal, agent Scott Boras just exceeded the $1 billion mark earned by his clients this offseason.

While it will shock some that teams like the Los Angeles Angels or Minnesota Twins couldn't sign Ryu, the Blue Jays aren't all that surprising of a landing spot. In fact, Toronto has been interested in the left-handed pitcher ever since the Winter Meetings began, in an effort to accelerate their rebuild.

This past season with the Dodgers, Ryu accumulated a 14-5 record, along with a sterling 2.32 ERA, and 163 strikeouts in 182.2 innings pitched. His dominant season resulted in being the runner-up in the NL Cy Young race, losing out to New York Mets ace Jacob deGrom.

Given Ryu's dominant 2019 campaign, it's surprising he lasted this long in free agency after all the activity in the early going, but the lefty has a new home and is ready to show last year was no fluke.
