The New York Mets made arguably the boldest trade of the deadline when they acquired Marcus Stroman from the Toronto Blue Jays.

Now, less than six weeks after being shipped off from his first home in professional baseball, Anthony Kay will step foot on Major League soil.

The Toronto Blue Jays are set to promote the left-handed Kay alongside righty T.J. Zeuch.

Kay was one of the Mets' top prospects, and their decision to deal him and Simeon Woods Richardson to Toronto in exchange for Stroman was met with some criticism.

While the Mets were trying to go all-in and make a splash at the deadline, they gave away some key components of the farm in order to do so.

Though the Long Island native Stroman has been enthusiastic about being a member of the Mets, his performance on the hill has not been spectacular. He is pitching to a 4.55 ERA in six starts in blue and orange, and he is averaging fewer than six innings per start.

Woods Richardson has been incredibly sharp with Toronto's High-A affiliate, striking out 29 in 28.1 innings. Kay has also been effective, logging a 2.50 ERA in seven starts at Triple-A Buffalo.

With the southpaw preparing to make his big league debut, Mets fans will be watching anxiously to see how he fares.
