Skeptics and pundits may tell you that 39-year-old Pau Gasol -- fresh off playing just 30 games in 2018-2019 due to a stress fracture in his foot for which he underwent surgery -- doesn't have left much to offer to the NBA and should seriously consider retirement.

Well, the Meal Ticket may hear your criticism, but he doesn't at all care for it. The free agent vet has reportedly agreed to a one-year deal with the Portland Trail Blazers, per ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

A reunion in sunny Los Angeles for Pau was a significantly popular rumor in the early stages of the offseason, but the Lakers ultimately withdrew their interest and opted to fill their roster with other, more suitable veterans.

As for the Blazers, we can't help but admit that this is an excellent signing for Terry Stotts and Co. As always, what severely hurt Portland's chances in last season's playoffs was there lack of front court depth.

A string of moves this summer, however, could present them with a rotation that features Jusuf Nurkić (when healthy), Hassan Whiteside, Zach Collins and a six-time All-Star in Gasol when all is said and done.

Let's not be quick to forget that Kung Pow is just one campaign removed from averaging 10.1 points and 8 rebounds per game in 77 games.

The Blazers are positioning themselves -- very quietly and elegantly at that -- to be in perfect position to become a genuine threat to come out of the West in 2019-2020.
