In the past two weeks, as the country has undergone yet another political and social struggle over race relations, many professional athletes have taken to social media and the streets themselves to voice their stances. Some of these athletes, however, have drawn the spotlight for all the wrong reasons.

ake Fromm, the former Georgia Bulldog selected 167th overall in the 2020 draft by the Buffalo Bills, said in recently leaked text messages that only "elite white people" should have access to guns. This set the social media world ablaze, and the quarterback quickly issued an apology.

Now, Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier insists that the team isn't going to ostracize Fromm over this mistake.

In a Zoom call with reporters Thursday, Frazier made the point that the Fromm "seemed sincere in his apology" and that the Bills would "sift through what is real and what is not" and place team culture first.

Frazier also acknowledged that in these times, it's natural for individuals to express their opinions, and that things end up incredibly poorly phrased sometimes, particularly in private moments.

"For all of us, we make mistakes", he said. "There are a number of us who could say the same thing at some point or another, especially in our youth, who have made some mistakes. You move on from it and you grow from it. That’s what we’re going to try to do, I'm sure, as a team. Grow from it."

Most importantly, the Bills will not allow this incident to divide their locker room. Rather, they'll use it to help bring the team closer together and foster better communication.

"One of the things we talked about in our meetings earlier was the fact that love has to overcome hate. I know the guys are giving Jake every chance to prove that those words that were echoed were a teaching moment, and that he's learned from that moment."
