Bill O'Brien's Disastrous Monday Was One Giant Fireable Offense After Replacing DeAndre Hopkins With Randall Cobb

For some reason the Houston Texans allow Bill O'Brien to serve as both head coach and general manager. His team has not advanced beyond the Divisional Round of the playoffs during his tenure and Texans fans should want him out.

He made the mind-boggling decision Monday to trade DeAndre Hopkins for Arizona Cardinals running back David Johnson. That may have broken some Texans fans. O'Brien followed it up by replacing Hopkins with Randall Cobb.

There is no good reason why Hopkins was traded. And the fact O'Brien didn't get a haul of picks, like the Minnesota Vikings did in the Stefon Diggs trade, only makes it worse. Now he is replacing a legitimate star receiver with someone who had only 828 receiving yards in 2019.

O'Brien turned Hopkins into Johnson and Cobb. He now has to pay more both that combo and his team has gotten worse. How does that make any sense?

Cobb is not a bad player by any means. He is just a good second or third receiver. The team already had a No. 1 guy in Hopkins and sent him away. O'Brien created a need that he already had solved and Texans fans may riot.
