The Texans made a necessary choice by cutting running back D'Onta Foreman ahead of the 2019 season, but the decision doesn't seem to wear much on Bill O'Brien.

Houston's head coach actually took a shot at the 23-year-old, saying that cutting him was "in the best interest of the team."

"We have some guys who are playing pretty good at that position," O'Brien said, referencing the team's depth behind star Lamar Miller. "And we had a need at some other positions. That's just what we decided to do."

He might as well have told Foreman to not let the door hit him on the way out, though it's hard to blame O'Brien for taking a dig at him. Foreman's two seasons with the Texans were nothing short of a massive disappointment both on and off of the field.

The former third-round draft pick appeared in only 12 games across his two years with the team. He amassed just 326 rushing yards on 85 attempts. His lack of success following a prolific college career was due in part to injury. An Achilles injury sidelined him for all but one game in 2019.

His work ethic also didn't help things. Foreman had problems with lateness, something that's generally not accepted in the NFL. The Texans weren't pleased with the effort, or lack thereof, that he put into his craft, and his release is a manifestation of their disappointment.

As to whether or not another team will give Foreman another chance remains to be seen, but if one thing is certain, it's that the Texans are glad to have moved on from him.
