Bill Belichick Used a Loophole to Run the Clock Out Against the Jets and That's Pathetic

On Monday night, the New England Patriots dominated the New York Jets to improve to 7-0. It was another masterclass from Bill Belichick, but one sequence from the victory sure stands out in a despicable way.

Up 33-0 in the fourth quarter, the Patriots lined up to punt, but ended up killing more than a minute of time. What?

Yup, in the series of events, the Pats tried taking a false start penalty to give their punting team more space. The Jets declined the penalty, but the play clock and game clock started up again.

New England then let the clock run all the way down, but then Brandon Bolden purposely moved to try and get a false start penalty. The Jets declined again. More time off the clock...

Finally, by the time New England actually got the punt off and the Jets caught it, the clock went from 11:13 left in the game to 9:43. This led to Belichick actually showing emotion on the field, and almost in an evil way:

I get trying to outsmart the opponent, but was this really necessary? It's almost like Bill was just trying to show he's way smarter than Adam Gase, which, trust us, he didn't need to do.

If Patriots fans ask themselves why people hate them, this story is exhibit A. Give us a break.
