Bernie Sanders Calls Out MLB Over Proposal That Would Wipe Out Minor League Teams

It seems Major League Baseball is creating a lot of enemies lately.
The United States government now has the MLB and commissioner Rob Manfred it its crosshairs following the league's proposal to eliminate 42 MiLB teams. Senator Bernie Sanders has spoken out against it on Monday.
.@MLB is proposing to cut 42 Minor League Baseball clubs.

This has nothing to do with what's good for baseball and everything to do with greed.
It would destroy thousands of jobs and devastate local economies.
I'm urging @MLB Commissioner Manfred to stop this proposal. pic.twitter.com/89AZduYrlT
A noble deed from a man who is truly for the people. Sanders is concerned deeply about the financial implications that would come with the leveling of these minor league teams.
The MLB's proposal would leave employees of these 42 organizations jobless while also eliminating a significant source of revenue for the towns and cities where these teams are located.
Sean is absolutely right. Closing down Minor League teams, like the Vermont Lake Monsters, would be a disaster for baseball fans, workers, and communities across the country. We must protect these teams from corporate greed. https://t.co/g8BZi6HGeH

While it would be sad for fans of baseball to see these teams fall, this is an issue that's bigger than the sport. The league should take Senator Sanders' warning as a sign that the people need these teams, and any attempt at consolidation could bring a major hit to local economies all across the country.
Whether his actions are genuine or simply a bid to beef up his presidential campaign, Sanders' intervention into this issue should be instrumental in saving these clubs.
