Bears Already Screwed up Best Chance to Protect Mitchell Trubisky and Nick Foles

The New Orleans Saints using a first-round pick on Michigan center Cesar Ruiz looked a little odd at the time given how the team had Erik McCoy, Andrus Peat, and Larry Warford already established as starters on their offensive line. The move made more sense after the Saints cut Warford despite the fact he was a Pro Bowler in every season he played in New Orleans.

The Chicago Bears sounded like a prime landing spot given a subpar offensive line, but a source confirmed that Ryan Pace will not pursue him.

James Daniels is serviceable at left guard, but there is no evidence that you can present that could convince anyone that Chicago are better going into the season with Rashaan Coward at right guard instead of a three-time Pro Bowler.

While Chicago might not be in the Warford market, you can bet a host of NFC North rivals will be kicking the tires on the former Pro Bowler, and they're thrilled that Chicago will not try to sign him.

When a team with a poor offensive line doesn't even consider adding a three-time Pro Bowler as a free agent, the idea that Chicago is angling for a better chance at one of the draft's top quarterbacks sounds a lot more realistic.
