While the NFL is celebrating their first centennial, the Chicago Bears are doing the same, as George Halas founded the team as the Decatur Staleys in 1920.

As part of their 100th anniversary celebrations, the 50-yard line at Soldier Field is getting a bit of a makeover, as the Bears are eschewing their classic 'wishbone C' logo in favor of their centennial logo.

This is sure to cause some divide among Bears and non-Bears fans alike, as Chicago's wishbone C is among the most instantly recognizable logos in all of sports.

The Bears marketing team should be commended for at least going for the bold route in order to promote their 100th anniversary. It's certainly more than the Arizona Cardinals, the other founding member of the NFL still in operation, are doing.

Around April Fools day, the Bears had us thinking that they would wear jerseys with three digit numbers on them this season. While Twitter went in on these threads, the ruse was later confirmed and they were auctioned for charity.

Logo and uniform purists may not love what the Bears are doing with their traditional logos, but at least they're trying to spruce up their aesthetic a bit in Year No. 100.
