One of The Athletic's lead baseball writers, and a voice and champion in recent years for Montreal's baseball stars and ambitions, is in plenty of hot water.

Per reports, Jonah Keri has been released on bail after assaulting his wife several times over the course of the past year.

The alleged incidents occurred in July 2018, May 2019 and July 2019; Keri now faces four charges, three of them counts of assault causing bodily harm and one count of uttering death threats.

Keri is one of the more vaunted writers about the modern game, covering the analytics revolution, but known primarily as one of the leading champions of Expos outfielder Tim Raines' Hall of Fame case. As momentum surged in Raines' favor, much of it was due to Keri rallying the vote based on advanced statistical cases. He's currently employed by The Athletic, and publishes his power rankings, "The 30," weekly. They've suspended him immediately upon release of this news.

As part of the bail agreement, Keri has been given 10 days to retrieve his possessions from his home, and must stay 250 meters away from his wife at all times.
