Six of the best players in the history of baseball will receive the ultimate honor the sport can bestow upon them when they are enshrined into the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown. Legendary Yankees closer Mariano Rivera leads a group that also includes former Mariners slugger Edgar Martinez, the late Blue Jays star pitcher Roy Halladay, and Yankees and Orioles starter Mike Mussina. Veterans committee inductees for the 2019 class include flame-throwing closer Lee Smith and White Sox designated hitter Harold Baines.

Rivera, the greatest relief pitcher of all time, is the headliner of this group, as he became the first player to receive unanimous induction into the Hall of Fame. Halladay, arguably the most dominant starter of the mid 2000s, was elected on the first ballot after his untimely passing in 2017.
The always-consistent Mussina and historically-effective DH Martinez, elected on their sixth and 10th years on the ballot, respectively, finally received induction into baseball's most exclusive club.
The two Veterans Committee selections this year are former Cubs closer Lee Smith, who is third all-time with 478 saves, and White Sox DH Harold Baines, who piled up 2,866 hits in a 22-year career.
