Saturdays are for the boys, Sundays are for the Lord, and Mondays are for SMOKE.

That's right. Auburn has a defensive back with one of the best names I have ever heard: Smoke Monday.

While he was born with the name Quindarious Monday, Auburn coach Gus Malzahn said that he "called him Smoke the whole time he was being recruited."

So where did the "Smoke" nickname originate?

“It came from my granddad," Monday said. "I used to just run around the house, so he started calling me 'Smoke.'”

Smoke Monday

Smoke was a true freshman playing safety in the NCAA during 2018, totaling 15 tackles, 2 sacks, and 1 interception, but his most memorable play was the punt he blocked against Auburn's biggest rival: Alabama.

Monday will be listed as “Smoke Monday” on the roster starting next season, making it official.

"'Smoke' may sound more like something you would have seen on the back of an XFL player’s jersey in the early 2000s," said Malzahn.

Nonetheless, he believes that his talents will "probably" allow him to play in the NFL.
