Astros Star Reliever Ryan Pressly Sets MLB Record With 39th Consecutive Scoreless Appearance

The Houston Astros are one of the deepest teams in the league, and that's true on both sides of the ball. The Stros have one of baseball's best bullpen's at its disposal, and highlighting the bunch is setup man Ryan Pressly.

Pressly etched his name in MLB history on Friday night after tossing is 39th consecutive scoreless appearances, a streak dating back to the 2018 season. Here's a clip of Pressly's record-breaking inning:

Pressly's scoreless run dates back to August 10 of last season. In 2019, he's appeared in 17 games and tossed 19 clean innings, striking out 20 batters and posting an incredible 0.00 ERA and 0.47 WHIP.

Arguably the MLB's best relief pitcher, Pressly is as reliable as they come. Last season he was was near perfect as well after joining Houston mid-season. He threw 23.1 innings for the Astros, striking out 32 batters and recording a 0.77 ERA and 0.60 WHIP.

With Pressly available late in games for the Astros, the team is in about as safe of hands as there comes. No reliever has been better than the 30-year-old in the later innings, and he's now earned himself a spot in the record books.
