Sports have taken a deserved backseat to more pressing matters in the United States. The death of George Floyd at the hands of the Minneapolis police department has sparked a movement not only in the country, but the globe. Eyes are being opened about the injustices African Americans face on a daily basis. And yes, that includes athletes.

Los Angeles Angels top prospect Jo Adell dropped some truth bombs when speaking with The Undefeated, particularly about the differences of MLB scouting reports between white and black players.

Adell heard the term "raw and toolsy" when reading up the reports written by pro scouts when he was coming out of high school.

These are terms that have been attributed to plenty of black baseball players over the years. In fact, it spreads across all sports.

Adell brings up the example of a specific scouting report on Cam Newton when he was coming out of Auburn, where he was described by a talent evaluator as being "very disingenuous." This is why many African American athletes feel like they're being judged for reasons other than their actual talent.

Do yourself a favor and take some time out of your day to read Adell's extremely insightful interview. The young man is making sure his voice is being heard.
