For the second night in a row, the Boston Red Sox blew out their bitter rivals, the New York Yankees, at Fenway Park. While the bats remained hot and potent, the Red Sox also received a brilliant outing from recently-acquired starter Andrew Cashner.

Red Sox Nation gave Cashner a round of applause that led to a tip of the cap by the veteran starter, who lasted 6.2 innings and allowed just three runs and struck out six.

To further endear himself with his new fan base, Cashner took a shot at the Yankees following the contest.

Does everyone grow up hating the Yankees? Well, they are a team that you either love or hate, but their millions of fans worldwide would disagree with that statement.

In the case of Cashner, who is a Texas native, I'm sure he did despise the big, bad Yankees. But I'm also sure he wasn't in love with the Red Sox, either.

Of course, I'd be feeling myself a bit if I were Cashner, as this is the fourth time he's faced off against the Yankees this year, and outside of his first start of the season against them on March 28, the veteran right-hander has kept New York in check.

Red Sox fans may have had a mixed reaction when they acquired Cashner, but after last night's start and his postgame comments, he'll be beloved in that city for a long time, maybe forever.
