Pitching stole the show at this year's MLB All-Star Game, which was only fitting after Cleveland was used as a launchpad during Monday night's Home Run Derby.

The American League managed to pitch their way to victory, taking a 4-3 win that was started by Justin Verlander and closed out by Aroldis Chapman.

Fans were treated to some excellent pitching performances, though there was still some offense to be seen.

Joey Gallo absolutely destroyed a solo shot in his first-ever All-Star game plate appearance, and Charlie Blackmon and Pete Alonso contributed the runs for the NL.

Shane Bieber had a great outing, striking out the side in front of his own Cleveland crowd during his one inning of work. He received a massive reception from the Progressive Field crowd.

But no moment was so touching as the Stand up to Cancer tribute in which Carlos Carrasco, who is battling leukemia, stood with fellow Indians' teammates in a fight against the disease.

Win or lose, at the end of the day, this game is for the fans and for the chance of seeing some of the league's most talented players on the field at the same time.

Bieber was voted the All-Star Game's Most Valuable Player, an honor for the 24-year-old who made his first appearance in the midsummer classic, especially considering it was at Progressive Field, his team's ballpark.

Masahiro Tanaka earned the win, pitching effectively in his inning of work. The loss was handed to Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw.
