With rookie Ryan Finley making his first career start for the now-benched Andy Dalton and superstar receiver AJ Green returning from an injury to make his season debut, things were finally starting to look up for Zac Taylor and the winless Cincinnati Bengals.

All that optimism was sapped away thanks to whatever hex has been placed on this franchise. Green told reporters that he re-aggravated his ankle injury and likely won't play this week against the Baltimore Ravens on account of how swollen it is.

Green, who hasn't played a snap of football this season for the Bengals and was stubbornly not traded thanks to more Cincinnati front office incompetence, piled up 694 yards and six touchdowns in nine games last season. However, it's been over a year since we've seen Green on the field in an NFL game, and you have to wonder if he'll ever return to what he was pre-injury at this rate.

With Green out once again, veteran Tyler Boyd, 6-5 second-year possession receiver Auden Tate, and slot guy Alex Erickson are expected to eat up most of the snaps.

Bengals fans, you have our sympathy. The amount of bad luck this franchise has incurred over the last few years is nothing short of astonishing.
