The New York Yankees are celebrating their pivotal series win against the Tampa Bay Rays, as they now sit atop the AL East. However, the Yankees did have a bit of an injury scare (as if they haven't had enough of those in the early part of this season).

During Sunday's game, hot-hitting third baseman Gio Urshela fouled a ball that proceeded to ricochet off the ground and hit him right in the groin. Men everywhere felt the pain that Urshela felt, but he actually stayed in the game until being pinch hit for in the sixth inning.

Manager Aaron Boone revealed that the decision to remove him from the game was made out of caution, and didn't suggest it was anything serious.

"He wasn’t feeling great and we decided to get him out of there," Boone said, via NJ.com.

Let's be honest, taking a speeding baseball where the sun don't shine will result in you not feeling that great. Boone made the right decision by sparing him any further indignities.

With the Yankees suffering such a plethora of injuries in 2019, it was best to play it safe than sorry. All told, an Urshela crisis was averted. More good news on top of the Bronx Bombers' nifty series win.
