5 NFL Players We Want to See Race Lamar Jackson in the 40-Yard Dash
By Andy Loughmiller

Lamar Jackson is having a truly remarkable season as the Baltimore Ravens signal caller. He broke Michael Vick's single-season rushing record for a quarterback Thursday night vs. the Jets and has already accounted for 1,103 yards on the ground in 2019 through 14 games. Jackson is one of the most explosive athletes in the league, which makes us wonder how he would fare in a race against other skill position players that are also known for their speed.
With that in mind, here are five NFL players we would like to see race the MVP front-runner in a 40-yard dash.
5. Saquon Barkley
Barkley hasn't had a standout season in 2019, but he is still one of the scariest ball carriers to go up against. The second-year running back out of Penn State tore up the NFL combine prior to being selected with the No. 2 overall pick by the Giants in 2018, highlighted by a 4.40 40 time. He and Jackson are probably the fastest players from that draft class, so it would be fascinating to see how a race between them would shake out.
4. Mecole Hardman
The Chiefs are loaded with speed on offense, particularly at the receiver position. Hardman has proven that he can get behind any defensive back who challenges him. The rookie speedster has recorded touchdowns of 83 and 63 yards this season thanks to his ability to get down field quicker than anybody who dares to guard him.
3. Marquise Goodwin
Goodwin was placed on IR after dealing with both foot and knee issues this season, but when healthy, he might be the fastest player in the game when it comes to straight-line speed. He was a four-time All American in track and field at the University of Texas and his 4.27 40-yard dash during the 2013 combine is tied for the fourth fastest time in the history of the event. We would be interested to see if he could come out on top vs. Jackson seven seasons into his career.
2. Kyler Murray
The No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 draft opted not to run the 40-yard dash during the combine, but anybody who has seen him play knows he can absolutely fly. He does not run the ball as much as Jackson, likely due to his size and stature. However, his speed is often on display behind the line of scrimmage when he is forced out of the pocket. The winner of this hypothetical race would clearly be the fastest quarterback in the NFL.
1. Tyreek Hill
The Cheetah is undoubtedly the most electric player in the league when he has the ball in his hands. His ability to accelerate and get to full speed in one step is unlike anything we have ever seen. Hill ran a 4.29 40 during his pro day at West Alabama. His pure speed is off the charts. We would love to see if Hill would be able to leave Jackson in the dust while chucking up the deuces.
