49ers won't be trading Jimmy Garoppolo after all

All offseason, we've seen reports and rumors fly all over the place about the San Francisco 49ers potentially parting ways with Jimmy Garoppolo. Now, we know that won't be going down after all this offseason.

That's because Jimmy G and SF have agreed to a new contract. While he won't be breaking the bank, Garoppolo is still making a pretty penny and he'll be able to mentor Trey Lance. It's a win-win for everyone.

49ers and Jimmy Garoppolo had been working since last week on a reworked deal to keep him in SF this season. In the end, this is what made the most sense for both sides. It always was possible it could play out this way, with Garoppolo returning, and now it officially has.

Garoppolo had been linked with a potential move to Seattle, New York and more. He'll be staying with the 49ers, though, which fans were hoping for. Jimmy G is indeed staying put.
