San Francisco 49ers safety Antone Exum won't shy away from expressing his beliefs. The NFL player, part-time rapper made that much clear in his recent comments to SFGate when asked about his new rap song, "Officer Kaepernick."

While the 28-year-old made it clear that he's not a Colin Kaepernick disciple and doesn't align perfectly with him on every issue, he made the issue of police brutality the main focus of his new song.

One of the more interesting portions of Exum's interview was his statement that he would "never take a knee," because he feels that it is counterproductive to building the unity this country needs. He did, however, laud Kaepernick for his courage in standing up for his beliefs.

Exum says that he would happily talk to President Trump about his experiences, regardless of the president's previous stances on the issue of police brutality.

The safety astutely pointed out that regardless of what he does, he will be criticized; it's with that in mind that Exum is able to feel free expressing his values and trying to create change. He was criticized by people on one side of the aisle when he said that the 49ers welcomed Nick Bosa, a known Trump supporter, with open arms. Now, he's been criticized by people on the other side for his outspoken stance on police brutality.

Regardless of how you feel about Exum's political stances, it's hard not to respect his willingness to have an open and respectful dialogue in an age where that's become rare.
