49ers Proved Jimmy G-Tom Brady Super Bowl Showdown is Possible With Absolute Dismantling of Panthers

There were two undefeated teams remaining entering Week 8 of the NFL season: the New England Patriots and San Francisco 49ers. New England was given all the respect in the world for their work this year, while San Francisco were treated as a laughing stock. An anomaly. A fluke.

The 49ers heard the noise, and they used it as motivation on Sunday against a supposedly strong opponent in the Carolina Panthers. San Francisco throttled Carolina by the score of 51-13.

Critics should now be silenced, as a Tom Brady vs. Jimmy Garoppolo Super Bowl showdown is a strong possibility this February.

When watching the 49ers, one thing that sticks out is the strong play of the defense, coached up by coordinator Robert Saleh. Leading the way for the 49ers is second overall pick Nick Bosa, who's taken the role of "world-eater" quite literally.

Bosa looked unblockable on numerous occasions, as he recorded three sacks and one interception off Panthers quarterback Kyle Allen.

Overall, the 49ers forced Allen to throw for just 178 yards and three picks on the day.

Then, there's San Francisco's rushing attack. Yes, there are a lot of mouths to feed on that depth chart, head coach Kyle Shanahan (and the offensive line) makes them all look like serious threats.

Tevin Coleman was signed this offseason on the cheap, and looked like an absolute star against Carolina. Coleman rushed for 105 yards and three touchdowns on just 11 carries, while also catching two passes for 13 yards and a score. That's effectiveness right there.

As for Garoppolo, he's in the enviable position of not having to play out of his mind in order to win games. The former Patriot has 1,314 passing yards, seven touchdowns and six interceptions on a 68.3 completion percentage.

San Francisco has so many weapons on both sides of the ball, that Garoppolo just has to play good enough in order for the team to succeed.

The San Francisco 49ers are not the be slept on this season. They have the potential to earn a trip to the Super Bowl in Miami where Garoppolo could square off with his former mentor.
