49ers Absolutely Need to Trade for Panthers WR Curtis Samuel Amid Latest Rumors

We're not entirely sure what the San Francisco 49ers' plan is at wide receiver aside from likely selecting a top talent with the No. 13 pick, but the team failing to address the position by any other means grows increasingly worrisome with each passing week.

However, general manager John Lynch might just have a get out of jail free card to play. Carolina Panthers young wideout Curtis Samuel is rumored to be on the trade block.

There is literally zero excuse for the 49ers not to trade for the 23-year-old speedster.

San Francisco stunningly passed on a handful free agents, including Emmanuel Sanders, Robby Anderson, and Breshad Perriman. Now, the team would be better off avoiding the open market.

At 5-11 and 195 pounds, Samuel's size and skill set are exactly what head coach Kyle Shanahan looks for in a receiver. Why do we think that Deebo Samuel (5-11, 214 pounds) burst onto the scene as a rookie in 2019 after being drafted No. 36 overall?

Samuel was impressively productive last season in a largely one-trick pony Panthers offense (give the ball to Christian McCaffrey and get out of the way) and there's no doubting that he'd take his game to another level in Shanahan's offense.

In limited touches, Samuel hauled in 54 receptions for 627 yards and six touchdowns for Carolina in 2019. Those numbers would skyrocket if he was traded to reigning NFC champs, who need WR help in the worst way.
