4 Realistic Trade Destinations for Jadeveon Clowney

Even though the Houston Texans have plenty of cap room to spare, they and Pro Bowl defensive end Jadeveon Clowney remain at an impasse in contract talks. A 26-year old athletic freak with 18.5 sacks over the last two years, Clowney looks set to play the 2019 season under the franchise tag. With a deal becoming harder to come by with each passing day, the Texans might opt to trade Clowney and recover some assets before he hits unrestricted free agency. These four teams would be the most logical landing spots and best fits for Clowney.

4. Seattle Seahawks

The Seahawks pass rush has looked toothless since Cliff Avril hung up his cleats and Michael Bennett has bounced around the northeast. The signing of Ziggy Ansah in no way means the Seahawks are "or should" be done adding to that unit. Clowney would take their pass rush corps and instantly turn them from a good one into a great one.

3. Oakland Raiders

The New York Giants ranked 31st in the NFL with 30 sacks last season. The Khalil Mack-less Raiders were 32nd with 13, averaging less than a sack per game. With Jon Gruden and the Raiders already showing a willingness to absorb stars with big contracts, they should be on the phone with Houston right now trying to pair Clowney and rookie DT Clelin Ferrell.

2. New York Jets

You want to make a good first impression, new GM Joe Douglas? This is how you do it. You use one of your draft picks and a couple enticing pieces to get Clowney to East Rutherford. Could you imagine a better defensive end for Gregg Williams' 3-4 scheme? While Clowney and JJ Watt lining up on the same side was a hellish tandem, but Clowney and Quinnen Williams coud be almost as unblockable a duo.

1. Philadelphia Eagles

Howie Roseman's masterful job as Eagles GM has given Philadelphia enough cap space to trade picks and players for another star and absorb his contract. Michael Bennett and Chris Long could not only be replaced, but improved on, as Clowney would give them an elite pass rusher and help them contend for a Super Bowl.
