3 Trap Games on Chiefs' 2020 Schedule

The Kansas City Chiefs don't have a super difficult path back to the playoffs, as playing the AFC East and NFC South gives Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, and their high-flying offense plenty of easy weeks to pad their yardage and stat totals. Unfortunately, a couple of those games on the schedule have all the makings of a trap game, and Kansas City needs to be very diligent to avoid slipping up.

3. Sept. 20 vs Chargers

After the Chiefs open the season against the Houston Texans in primetime, they travel to SoFi Stadium for the Chargers' first home game of the season in their new stadium. While the stadium might be 75% Chiefs fans, the Chargers have a stacked secondary and a ferocious pass rush that could cause some major headaches for Kansas City if they don't try to take Joey Bosa out of the game entirely.

2. Oct. 11 vs Raiders

The Chiefs will do their best to get hyped for this game, as KC and the Raiders share one of the fiercest rivalries in all of football. However, Kansas City shouldn't view Las Vegas as a guaranteed win. Right after two difficult games against the Ravens and Patriots, Kansas City will take on an improving Raiders team that has an efficient offensive attack led by Derek Carr and Josh Jacobs that should be able to get some air against a depleted Kansas City defense.

1. Dec. 13 vs Dolphins

This is the trap game that shows up when you look up "trap game" in the dictionary. The Chiefs will likely have clinched at least a playoff spot, and the Dolphins will likely have turned to Tua Tagovailoa at quarterback by this point in the season. Kansas City's secondary struggles and Tua's ability to go deep down the field could help the Dolphins pick up a statement win late in the campaign.
