3 Teams That Benefit Most From Wisconsin's Upset Loss to Illinois

On a rather unsuspecting Saturday afternoon, the No. 6 Wisconsin Badgers suffered a shocking upset loss at the hands of Illinois on a last-second field goal. They entered the day at an undefeated 6-0, having allowed just 29 points through six games, only to lose 24-23. And now, that loss bodes well for these three teams.

3. Oklahoma

The Sooners absolutely need to separate themselves from the crowd, and this loss helps them immensely, especially considering they took care of business against West Virginia. Though they're still on the outside looking in, there's now one fewer undefeated team that they have to compete with to weasel their way in to the College Football Playoff. They've been taking care of business all season, and as long as they continue to do so, they might find a way in.

2. Penn State

The case for Penn State is the same as it is for the Sooners: they now have one fewer undefeated team to compete with at the top of the poll. They've still got three ranked opponents on their schedule for the season, and it's possible that they drop one of those games, specifically their showdown against Ohio State, but as long as they can hang in there, this is great news for them considering Wisconsin is in their conference.
