3 Sneaky Free Agent Moves Cowboys Can Still Make Before 2019 Season
By Michael Luciano
The Dallas Cowboys have put together a solid offseason after a hole-filling draft, headlined by UCF's Trysten Hill in the second round and some shrewd moves in free agency. Having said that, if you think Jerry Jones is done wheeling and dealing, that's extremely naive. These three moves in free agency could help the Cowboys round out their roster with some savvy, battle-tested veterans.
3. OT Donald Penn
Penn had been a Pro Bowl tackle twice in Oakland, but was shifted from his preferred left side to the right after the selection of Kolton Miller. While the 36-year-old Penn is likely no longer a starter, the Cowboys could do a lot worse for a veteran presence and some quality depth at a tackle position that has been thin for them in recent years.
2. DT Muhammad Wilkerson
After missing almost the entire season in Green Bay with an injury, everyone seems to have forgotten how talented and gameplan-wrecking a lineman Wilkerson is. While he could line up on the outside, his 315 pound frame could give him the versatility to slide inside in Rod Marinelli's 4-3 scheme. Why not play the lottery and gamble on Wilkerson's production?
1. DB Eric Berry
Berry's health is as big of question mark as it gets, as he's played only three regular season games in the last two seasons. If he's healthy, however, there aren't many safeties that can play the run and cover ground in zone coverage like him. Every season he's been healthy, he's made the Pro Bowl. He could change the shape of the Dallas defense if he arrives healthy.
