3 QBs the Chiefs Should Sign or Trade for After Patrick Mahomes Injury

The NFL world came to a halt when Kansas City Chiefs superstar Patrick Mahomes left their Thursday Night Football matchup against the Denver Broncos with a dislocated kneecap that will sideline him for around three weeks. With Matt Moore and practice squad QB Kyle Shurmur the only other signal callers on the active roster, Brett Veach should consider these three options to buff up their depth chart.

3. Sam Bradford

Bradford might have the durability of a Pringle and was objectively terrible last year with the Arizona Cardinals, but he's as good as it gets on the free agent market right now. The former No. 1 overall pick is just a few years removed from setting what was then an all-time completion percentage record while throwing 20 TDs against five picks. If given time, Bradford was and is very accurate, and could help Kansas City tread water for a few games.

2. Cardale Jones

Rocket arm? Check. Mobility? Check. Playmaking ability? Check. If you want to sign a Mahomes clone, Jones is probably as close a facsimile as there is on the market. While Jones is currently signed to the XFL's DC Defenders at the moment, he would likely jump at the first chance he had to get back in the NFL, and the XFL would likely let him out of his contract. Kansas City could retain the vertical aspect of their offense with Jones under center.

1. Marcus Mariota

Tennessee essentially declared the Mariota era over when he was benched last week for Ryan Tannehill, leaving his playing spot next season up in the air. He couldn't ask for a better place to rehabilitate his value than Kansas City. For the first time in his career, he'll be surrounded by an army of great receivers with a schematic genius in Andy Reid helping maximize his skillset. Mariota could be an impact spot starter and a backup of the highest quality if Kansas City can pry him away from the Titans.
