3 Players Who Definitely Won't Be on the Chiefs Roster Next Year

The Kansas City Chiefs, though very much alive in the playoffs, will keep busy once their offseason hits, as they have 24 players scheduled to become unrestricted free agents.

Thanks to their spending spree last offseason, the organization doesn't have a whole lot of funds to dabble with in free agency this time around. Things would be much easier if they knew who they weren't planning to retain, but lucky for them, we have a good idea as to who some of those players might be, starting with these three.

3. QB Chad Henne

The fact that Matt Moore's number was called upon once Patrick Mahomes wen't down with a knee injury earlier in the season says everything we need to know about how the Chiefs view Chad Henne's value as a reserve quarterback. With Mahomes taking more hits than ever in 2019, expect Andy Reid and Co. to keep Moore around and shop around for a younger third-stringer. The 34-year-old Henne is the final year of his two-year $6.7 million contract.

2. DE Terrell Suggs

Kansas City claimed the 37-year-old Terrell Suggs a few days after the Arizona Cardinals waived him in mid-December. The seven-time Pro Bowler played 52 snaps and compiled one sack and three total tackles in the final two weeks of 2019. Suggs clearly wants to be on a championship contender at this stage of his career, but his free agency status has him perfectly positioned to return to Baltimore for a potential farewell tour.

1. CB Morris Claiborne

Morris Claiborne signed a one-year, $2 million contract with KC last offseason, and they're lucky that they didn't offer him more considering how little he produced. Ironically enough, he missed the team's first and last four games of 2019. During his eight appearances (one start) for the Chiefs, the former No. 6 overall pick recorded 14 combined tackles. That's it. Those were his only stats this season. What more needs to be said? Claiborne, who will turn 30 in February, will not be playing for Kansas City next season.
