The Detroit Tigers own the No. 1 overall pick in a 2020 MLB Draft which will reportedly be shortened and take place later in the summer. The team tanked in 2019 with a 47-114 record and their reward is getting whoever they want with that top pick. Several prospects stand out for the Tigers. Whose name should they call first? Here's a look at three options.

3. Nick Gonzales, 2B

Nick Gonzales is the No. 4 ranked prospect by MLB.com. He had a wildly impressive .399/.502/.747 slash line at New Mexico State and had 37 career home runs. He is only 20, and his success in college points toward a fast path to the majors. Gonzales could be taken with the top pick and be in Detroit sooner than later, as there isn't much depth at second base for the future of this team.

2. Spencer Torkelson, 1B

Spencer Torkelson is a first baseman out of Arizona State who is ranked as the No. 2 overall prospect available. He slashed .337/.463/.729 with the Sun Devils and launched 54 home runs in his college career. C.J. Cron is a free agent after this season, and Miguel Cabrera has been relegated to the designated hitter role. The Tigers do not have a first baseman prospect in their Top 30, per MLB.com. Torkelson very well has what it takes to be a superstar 1B.

1. Emerson Hancock, RHP

Emerson Hancock is the top-rated prospect in 2020, and the Tigers could add him to their stable of college arms. He was a starter in all 33 of his career games at Georgia and finished his career with a 3.47 ERA. Hancock had a career 9.7 K/9 and logged 192 total innings. He stands 6-4 and is only 20. The Tigers have several great pitching prospects, such as Casey Mize and Matt Manning, but it never hurts to add more talent in the rotation. If he's the best of the best, bring him to Detroit.
