In spite of a mountain of injuries, the Yankees have managed to climb their way to the top of the AL East standings. That being said, they could still use some reinforcements, especially with the amount of uncertainty around some of their still-sidelined stars. Here are three players the Yankees should seriously consider trading for before the deadline.

3. Neil Walker

With Miguel Andujar now out of the picture for 2019 and the infield depth being put to the test, a reunion with the veteran Walker might prove beneficial, especially considering Troy Tulowitzki's health is no guarantee and it's doubtful Thairo Estrada remains with the club all year. He's posted a respectable .293/.374/.431 slash line in 41 games for the Marlins and played for the Bombers last year. His defensive versatility could prove to be valuable.

2. Madison Bumgarner

Madison Bumgarner is expected to be one of the most highly sought-after pitchers come the deadline. His 3.54 FIP and stellar playoff resume would be a welcome presence in the Yankees' rotation, who will be without Luis Severino until after the All-Star break and have struggled to squeeze consistent production out of J.A. Happ.

1. Max Scherzer

Who's to say it won't happen? The Nationals are already nine games out of first place in the NL East and will likely be forced to sell at the deadline. The Yankees are one of the few teams in baseball that can actually afford him in terms of both prospects and cash. It's not out of the realm of possibility that the renowned strikeout artist could end up pitching in pinstripes this year. GM Brian Cashman should at least inquire.
