3 NBA Teams Dumb Enough to Give up Assets to the Lakers for Alex Caruso

Alex Caruso has become a fan favorite during his time with the Los Angeles Lakers, but not necessarily 100% because of his on-court contributions. His name has recently popped up in trade rumors ahead of Thursday's deadline, though it may take a bigger offer than you'd expect to pry the beloved 5.5-per-game scorer from the Lakers. That would not be a wise move, and a few teams may just take the bait and send some assets in exchange for backup point guard.

3. New York Knicks

The New York Knicks are a total disaster. The team just fired their president, and a lack of leadership could allow James Dolan to demand some sort of trade. Sending an asset for Caruso would be a vintage Knicks move in what would be a failed attempt to bring any sort of star power to the team, legitimate or not. Caruso is not a star at all and the Knicks can't make this mistake.

2. Minnesota Timberwolves

The Minnesota Timberwolves appeared set on getting D'Angelo Russell from the Golden State Warriors. Those talks have seemingly fallen apart, and Minnesota could trade for Caruso, who is under contract through next season. This would not be a proper consolation, and it would be better just to explore the point guard market this summer after a season that has the team near the bottom of the league standings.

1. Sacramento Kings

The Sacramento Kings are in the midst of yet another disappointing season. Luke Walton has not turned things around, and a reunion with Caruso would not change much. But this is the Kings we are discussing, and that front office will make questionable moves without much logic involved (Why is Jabari Parker there now?!). Trading any asset for a backup point guard would further cause Kings fans to wonder if they should give up on the team.
