3 Giants Veterans Who Could Be Cut After the NFL Draft

The New York Giants are picking in the Top 10 of the NFL Draft once again, but they seem to have their quarterback and running back situations figured out thanks to Daniel Jones and Saquon Barkley, respectively. Joe Judge and Dave Gettleman should be looking to address some major holes on the offensive line and in the linebacking corps, which could force these three veterans to look for some new teams.

3. LB David Mayo

Mayo was a solid starting linebacker for the Giants last year after spending four years as a backup with the Carolina Panthers, as he made 82 tackles and recorded two sacks. Unfortunately, the Giants signed former Packers starter Blake Martinez, which could force Mayo to the bench. If New York thinks $3.5 million is too expensive for a backup, they could select a backup in the draft and say goodbye to Mayo.

2. DT Dalvin Tomlinson

Tomlinson has provided the Giants with a cheap, serviceable starter for the last three seasons, recording 49 tackles and 3.5 sacks last season. The selection of Dexter Lawrence and trade for Leonard Williams showed that Gettleman clearly wasn't sold on Tomlinson's ability to carry the load as a starter. Now that the Giants are showing an interest in Auburn defensive tackle Derrick Brown, Tomlinson could be on his way out.

1. OT Nate Solder

Solder has been nothing sort of a massive disappointment since the Giants pried him away from the New England Patriots. The Giants could do one of two different things with Solder. They could either keep him, which involves allowing him to suck up $39 million in cap space, and hope he rediscovers his old form, or cut him before June 1, which could allow them to replace him at No. 4 overall while only taking on $16 million in dead cap space.
