Before the NBA season went on hiatus, the Lakers were primed to make a deep playoff run and possibly win the NBA Finals. With the offseason looming (sooner or later), general manager Rob Pelinka has to make the decision to either keep the 2019-20 group intact, or try to make a move or two to land a splash free agent this summer (while taking care of Anthony Davis). Here are three free agents that Los Angeles should go after entering the 2020-21 season.

3. G Fred VanVleet

VanVleet played an important role on the 2018-19 championship Raptors. The Raptors guard is an unrestricted free agent, and he may earn more money on the open market instead of staying in the Six. With Rajon Rondo lingering as a buyout option, the Lakers will be looking for another playmaking guard that can also get his own shot off the dribble.

2. SG/SF DeMar DeRozan

For the last decade, DeRozan has been a 20+ point per game scorer in the Association. This summer, DeRozan will have the chance to opt out of his player option and become an unrestricted free agent. DeRozan of Compton, Calif. and USC could take the opportunity to go home this summer. LA has been looking for another shot creator to pair with LeBron James, and DeRozan fits the mold.

1. PF Anthony Davis

This is a given, right? What is not a given, though, is whether or not Anthony Davis is coming back to LA next season. He has a player option, and can opt out for a supermax deal with LA. We obviously know there is a connection between Davis and James through their shared agent, Rich Paul. If Pelinka knows what is good for his job, he will hand Davis and Paul a blank check.
