3 Bold Predictions for Wisconsin vs South Florida Season Opener
By Michael Luciano

Paul Chryst's Wisconsin Badgers will get their 2019 campaign kicked off in style, as they head down to Tampa to lock horns with Charlie Strong and his South Florida Bulls, who tapered off in 2018 after a very strong start. Given how both of these coaches like to play football, expect plenty of bone-crunching hits in what should be a physical game.
3. Jonathan Taylor Rushes for Over 250 Yards and Two Touchdowns
What sets Taylor apart from other elite running backs in the country is that given the subpar play of former QB Alex Hornibrook and Chryst's infatuation with the run, EVERYONE knows who is getting the ball on most plays and they still couldn't stop him. The 225 pound Taylor ran for 2,194 yards and 16 touchdowns on 7 yards-per-carry last year, so he should be able to slice through this porous USF defense like a hot knife through butter.
2. USF TE Mitchell Wilcox Notches Over 100 Yards Receiving
Wilcox is the best NFL prospect that the Bulls have on their roster, as his ability to bust the seam wide open with his speed at 245 pounds is sure to get the scouts buzzing. If inconsistent quarterback Blake Barnett is healthy and in a groove early, Wilcox, who had 540 yards receiving on 43 catches last season, should be in line for a big day against a Badgers defense that lost their best safety in D'Cota Dixon to the NFL.
1. Wisconsin Wins By Two Touchdowns
The players might be different, but the formula remains the same for Wisconsin. Grind the opposing defense down with your star running back, pray for mistake free football from your quarterback, and play stifling, aggressive defense. Wisconsin could be in trouble if quarterback Jack Coan has to get into a shootout, but their dominant running game and defense should carry them to a convincing win.
