Dabo Swinney and the Clemson Tigers scored a major recruiting victory on Tuesday when 2021 5-star running back Will Shipley announced his commitment to the ACC powerhouse.

Per 247Sports' composite rankings, Shipley is the No. 1 all-purpose back for the 2021 cycle and the No. 25 overall recruit in the nation.

Shipley was a highly sought-after recruit, as he had more than 12 schools seriously vying for his services. In the end, Clemson came out on top over the likes of Penn State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Georgia, Florida, Oregon, Stanford, and Tennessee, among others.

The young back is the reigning Gatorade Player of the Year in North Carolina after rushing for over 2,000 yards and 30 touchdowns. He added 582 yards and eight scores through the air while leading Weddington High School to a second consecutive state championship.

The 5-11, 198-pound prospect ran a blazing 4.46-second 40-yard dash a short while ago and he'll look to use his speed and versatility to nab playing time in a Clemson backfield that will need to find a successor for Travis Etienne after he plays his final season.

The rich keep getting richer in Death Valley.
