3 Impending Dolphins Free Agents With the Most to Prove in 2020

The Miami Dolphins were supposed to tank in 2019. Instead the players proved they weren't a total disaster and managed to go 5-11. Now expectations are a bit higher after flashes of success last year and the fact Tom Brady is no longer in the AFC East.

Additionally, there are several impending free agents who have a ton to prove not only to the Dolphins, but to the rest of the NFL in the hopes of landing a sizable contract after 2020.

3. Raekwon McMillan

McMillan has had limited success since being drafted by the Dolphins in the second round back in 2017. An injury held him out his entire rookie season but he rebounded with over 100 tackles in 2018. He has yet to record a sack in his career and while he was a starter the past two seasons, he has a ton to prove if he wants a lucrative second NFL contract following this season. The former Ohio State Buckeye may get lost in the shuffle in Miami if he has another weak campaign.

2. Matt Breida

Breida was a key piece in San Francisco's dominant rushing attack during the 2019 regular season, but he was bumped from the rotation in the postseason and was traded to Miami this offseason. The 25-year-old now has the opportunity to cement himself as a key piece in Miami's future in what will be a contract year in 2020. He will compete with Jordan Howard and Kalen Ballage for carries and seek to maintain his pace of just over 600 yards per year. He's still got fresh legs, so as long as he keeps using his unique skill set to make himself stand out, he should have plenty of suitors when he hits free agency.

1. Albert Wilson

Albert Wilson is still seeking that one big year. He has a combined total of 742 yards in two seasons with Miami after spending four years in Kansas City. Wilson will turn 28 in July and is set to earn $3 million this season. He set a new career-high with 43 receptions in 2019, and now his best hope is that Tua Tagovailoa wins the job and makes him look like a great receiver. Just one 800-1,000-yard season could get Wilson one decent multi-year contract. Another campaign of under 400 yards may relegate him to small one-year deal, so this will be a significant year for the speedster.
