As NBA free agency is just days away from beginning in earnest, GMs around the league are scrambling to get under the league's soft salary cap in an attempt to court the best free agents.
What is the NBA Salary Cap Next Season?
The salary cap for the 2019-2020 NBA season is set at $109 million. This is a steep increase from last year, when the cap stood at $101.8 million.
The floor, also known as the minimum a team must spend, equates to roughly 90 percent of the cap, or $98.1 million for the 2019-20 season.
What it the NBA Luxury Tax Threshold Next Season?
The luxury tax threshold is set at $132 million for the 2019-20 season. If a team uses one of their mid-level exceptions, they will be hard capped and must remain below the luxury tax apron, which is set at $138 million for the 2019-2020 season.
If a team goes over the luxury tax, they must pay $1.50 for every $1 they are over, with the rate increasing for every $5 million they go over the tax.
