It's that time of the year when all baseball fans can do is aimlessly daydream about the long, exciting season ahead of them.

By now, some teams have gotten a head start on announcing different giveaways and themed days for ballpark patrons to experience in 2020. This tactic encourages fans to buy tickets ahead of time so they're in sync with their team's promotional calendar. For the New York Yankees, however, there's one date next season their fans should be looking forward to in particular.

That's right. On May 23, thousands of Yankee Stadium spectators will become the fortunate recipients of... Gerrit Cole Top Gun bobbleheads! No images of the figure have been released yet, so that's just one more thing for Yankees fans to long for. But suffice to say that fans in the Bronx will have the need.

The need for velocity! Errr, speed.

On Dec. 10, New York emerged as winners in the Cole free agency sweepstakes. The Yankees will have control of the right-handed pitcher for nine seasons under a contract worth more than $300 million.

The 29-year old had his best season yet in 2019 with the Houston Astros, leading the AL in ERA and the MLB in strikeouts.

As they always do, New York fans have high expectations for their newly-acquired ace pitcher. Hopefully, the biggest highlight of Cole's first season in pinstripes isn't simply his bobblehead night (as cool as it may be).
