VIDEO: Stephen A. Smith Says Kyrie Irving's 'Mood' a Point of Contention With Nets

The Nets' new acquisition Kyrie Irving has been known across the league for being a somewhat of a negative locker room presence. Instances have occurred in which Kyrie has been described as a mood killer or even being bipolar. Well, his questionable attitude seems to have followed him to Brooklyn. Stephen A. Smith, on ESPN's First Take on Thursday, discussed the 27-year-old's alleged attitude problem, and said he'd heard that it's a point of contention for Irving's new team.

The Nets new star has been stellar for Brooklyn, averaging 28.5 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 7.2 assists. However, it is never his play on the court that is a concern for teams, as everyone concedes that he is a top-tier point guard every year he is healthy. Rather, as Smith mentions, it's his attitude that has been the biggest question mark surrounding his career.

Irving was seemingly a detriment to the Boston Celtics, where on many occasions his leadership was called into question, despite his elite level of play on the floor.

Irving has been dealing with a shoulder injury of late, which may force him to miss the Nets clash with the Celtics next week. His return to TD Garden is expected to be contentious given his less than graceful exit from Boston.

As the new face of the franchise in Brooklyn, Irving is in a perfect position to rewrite the narrative over his reported attitude issues. That's especially true with Kevin Durant not expected to play in 2019-20, meaning all eyes will be on Kyrie this season.
